Reviews For Seventeen Magazine

Great for teens!!

I think Seventeen is a great magazine for teens. I used to read it all the time. When the months issue came to my door, I would find time that day to sit down and read it. I would read it cover to cover. I even kept them for a long time to look back on them.

The one thing I really hate about the magazines around today, including Seventeen is, they always have to have a SKINNY,SKINNY women or teens on the covers. Not everyone is that thin and when that's all they put on the covers young people begin to think that that is the way they should look. I believe if your fat, skinny, or even purple, if your happy then who cares. But with the magazines putting ONLY thin women on the covers and talking about body images all the time who can be happy with their bodies.

My sister is sixteen and that's a problem she has. She is 5'3'' and 103 pounds and she thinks she is really fat and wants to look like one of the girls on the cover of a magazine!!! Then she'll show me a magazine comparing herself. When you ask her why she thinks that, she says "look at the world around you, you have to be thin!!!"

Now I think that's NUTS!!! I enjoy reading the magazines that are out there, because most of them have a lot of need information, but I think they should be more realistic in what they show to the world.

Anyway this is a great magazine to help teens with personal, friendship, and other problems they are facing. They can write their questions in and a professional will answer their problems. Because we all know that not everyone one can or are comfortable talking to their parents about personal things in their lives.

why there's a wow for seventeen

Seventeen is the most popular magazine for most teenage girls. Every month there is a new issue bursting with the hottest fashion trends for teens, beauty tip and styling tips. And also the latest news on America's teen heart throbs and on the latest music groups and movies. There are tons of interesting things to read, in this teenage magazine. I would highly recommend this to a house hold of young teenage girls and to the age groups of 14-19. There are many star signs told in her and monthly planners about special days and movie stars birthdays and even concert dates.

Great magazine for girls.

This is my teenage daughters favorite magazine,it has every fashion article in it from clothes and makeup to advertisements for music, what teen girls like to new hairstyles and even makeovers from time to time. This magazine was out when I was growing up but then it wasnt so detailed as it is today,It used to be a very small magazine about the size of a readers digest. We get this in the mail every month and I try to sit down and enjoy it with her. We discuss peer preasure if we can or whats the right aproach to dating a boy or who makes the first move or things like that. We have even discussed teen pregenacy and where that leads young girls who arent ready. It's a great magazine for parents and their teens, sit down and look at a issue with your girls and talk you will be glad you did.

Seventeen Magazine

I started reading Seventeen about 5 or 6 years ago. (I'm 20 now) I still read the magazine faithfully. I'm an active subscriber. I really love the trauma-ramas. I think they are so funny and I really like to know that I'm not the only person out there still doing really embarrassing things! I love to read the celeb interviews. It lets us peek into the celeb's professional and somewhat private life. Seventeen shows what in is fashion and answers questions that teen girls would be to embarrassed to ask someone they knew personally.

The magazine gives you advice on dating and home life. How to deal with school and parents. It also features actricles on social issues, like the multialion of India women, feature stories on drugs and alcohol abuse. It tells you how to seek help and list numbers.

The magazine is very informative and helpful to young girls. It is still a favorite of mine and if I ever have a daughter, I hope the magazine will still be around for her to read.

The best of what's out there.

I was a Seventeen subscriber from the time I was 13 until I turned 19. It was the last of my teenmag subscriptions to go. When Sassy lost Jane Pratt as editor it became just aweful -- not single redeeming quality as far as I could tell. YM went next, as they focused more and more on appearance and less and less on issues of interest. But I held on to Seventeen.

Sure, it had pictures of beautiful guys and girls and articles on clothes and makeup -- but face it, we like to read that stuff or we wouldn't be buying these magazines. But see, Seventeen was cool because there was always other stuff in it too. Like the Volunteerism Awards, where they wrote about girls who were doing wonderful things to make this world a better place. Or my personal favorite sections, "Ben's Life," a column all about the trials and tribulations of a high school relationship from the boy's POV. I have to admit, albeit sheepishly, that I will still sneak and read "Ben's Life" occassionally when I am at the newsstand.

If you're looking to start your daughter/sister/niece/friend/whomever with a subscription to one of these mags, try Seventeen. In my book it's the best of what's out there in its genre.

Seventeen very Informative

Seventeen magazine is a great and very informative magazine for teenage girls. The magazine is not specific of which sex it is meant for but I think it is meant for girls.

The magazine answers many questions that readers may have. Its very informative and always has very intresting articles. The stories are real life ones that everyone can relate to and even understand. Each issue has great offers and is never a repeat of what was in the previous issues. There are great pictures too. The prom issue is the best because they show all the latest styles of dresses. The pictures are great and show you how great the dresses really look.

Seventeen is the best magazine for teenagers!!

Great Info for Teens growing up!

Seventeen magazine, I like this mag because it has lots of great topics for the preteens and teens. It talks about issues some teens can't learn or talk about with family! This mag also has great articles on the star and Celebrities. Preteens and Teens can also write letters about there problems or questions they may have!

Seventeen magazine talks about real problems that teens have. It also has articles based on other teens writing in and asking questions...that helps some teens that may have that same problem. This mag is great for your teen. I definitely recommend it!

This mag really doesn't have any downfalls...it may have some mature articles I would recommend it for 14 years and up!
Other teens magazines just talk about the hot new bands and not about the real issues of teen life. That's why I like Seventeen!

Too old for Teen Beat too young for Cosmo

After narrowly just recently escaping my teen years, this magazine was a lifesaver. The in-depth articles covered every single thing I was too afraid to ask my parents about. Sex, boys, make-up, friends, jobs. I knew I could find the answers to most of my problems in the mailbox every month. The articles were written so that we could understand and identify with each experience and learn from the pages like we could an older best friend. At 22, I still read this magazine, because it helps to recapture the golden feelings I had in my teen age years. The magazine was around when my mother was 17, when I was 17, and I have fai that it will still be here when my kids are 17.

seventeen: a great magazine for teens

In my opinion, Seventeen is a really good magazine for teenage girls my age. Although some people may think that it gives young girls bad images I don't agree with them. Why? This magazine tells me that it's wrong to smoke, to take drugs, to drink, etc.
It keeps me up to date with the hot stars of today. Teenagers with problems turn to Seventeen all the time because they have professionals that give wonderful advice. The editors write about topics that interest us. There are many contests to participate in and they always have good prizes.
There are many horrible things going on all around the world. Things that the average teen doesn't hear about a lot. Seventeen taught me about the situation in Afghanistan and the horrible times that the people in Kosovo went through.
If you like this magazine then I suggest you also read Young & Modern. These two are very similar except that Seventeen is a lot bigger and it's more expensive.
I can understand how some parents would not like the fact that they talk about sex. But they always give us all the correct details. So wouldn't you rather that we learn the truth from a magazine instead of being confused by things that we hear at school?
But unfortunatly, like everything else it has some inconviniences. For example one that affects me, residents of Canada can't participate in the contests. But they are working on that one! Also it happens once in a while that they make a mistake with details about the stars.
If you're still not convinced. Pick up an issue then see what you think. Hopefully, you'll see in this magazine exactly what I see. A great magazine for teenage girls that is at the same time educational and totally fun.
Thank you for reading my review.

Teens Today

My fourteen year old daughter has had a subscription to the magazine, Seventeen for about a year. I approve of the magazine, especially since I have found some of the articles to be interesting myself. Likewise, in the February 2000 issue, it interviews Freddie Prinze Junior, who to my daughter is a very "hot" guy. He is intelligent, funny and what most teenage girls would find to be cute. He stated that girls don't have to be skinny to be "hot". I think that the statement he made makes girls everywhere smile. Seventeen magazine also has questions on Love and Sex. If my daughter doesn't want to ask me something, she can turn to the magazine to give her details and the facts on things. Seventeen also gives hair tips and they do not feature bone-skinny models who look like they stopped eating for a month. Therefore, I recommend Seventeen Magazine to teenage girls everywhere.
