Reviews For Self Magazine

My self-help glossy mag of choice!

While I look to Glamour and Mademoiselle magazines for intelligent topics on women's interests and look to Cosmopolitan for sex and relationship advice and Vogue for the latest fashion trends, I look to Self for self-improvement. This glossy mag features articles on how to stay fit, eat healthy, look and feel great and delves into issues such as breast cancer and different types of painful menstruation as well as articles on what a difference it makes to eat strawberries instead of chocolate for snack and the importance of drinking water. (My skin is looking great for having started drinking more water.) It is the mag I look to to make me feel good! I have learned how to eat healthier snacks and different exercise routines by reading this gem. This is my first year as a subscriber to this magazine and I shall continue to subscribe to it every year!

Great for any age

This is a really cool magazine because it's great for anybody, no matter how old you are. I read it, but my mom would probably find it interesting, too. It mainly focuses on a healthy lifestyle( healthy eating, exercise,etc.). The other good thing about it is it covers the topics of good karma and self-confidence, unlike other fitness-based magazines. A good read for anyone who likes to get high on life.

This is my favorite magazine!

This is a wonderful magazine that is pretty much suitable for any age. It has tons of helpful tips for healthy skin and hair, not to mention healthy bodies. It gives practical tips on eating, like the best cereals to buy, and it rates a lot of others. It does have advertising for products in it, but doesn't every magazine? It's main focus is on how you can keep your body healthy, with exercise tips and even a complete week planner to guide anyone through the best workout. The magazine also has a positive outlook, with articles on boosting your mood and self-esteem, along with articles on healthy, positive women that you see on TV. Overall it is a very modivational magazine to read and I love the price!

My magazine addiction!

One of my weaknesses is magazines. I love to discover new, exciting ones to look at and read. When I first discovered SELF, I thought maybe it would be for an age group a bit older than me (I'm 21). I was wrong. The information that goes into this montly magazine is fantastic. I can easily apply the topics covered in this magazine to my life. I love that it's geared to living happily, no matter what. And the magazine helps you garner the tools you need to stay healthy and happy without any nonsense you find in Cosmo or Glamour!

inspiring and user friendly!

Self is one of the most inspiring magazines I've ever read. Its gorgeous fitness photos make me want to go out and get moving, and its great variety of newsy health info is so user friendly, I feel myself getting healthier every day. It's totally fun and easy to follow the eat-right and beauty advice. Meanwhile Self just launched the selfdietclub, an online calorie tracking website, and I've already started changing the way I am eating and thiking about food. Hello energy! I love Self for the smart writing, beautiful photography and intelligent-woman approach to being my all-around best. It has everything I need: fitness, beauty, diet, health, happiness and style, and I really don't need any other magazine.

You don't have to have a perfect body for this magazine

At last a fitness magazine for real people. I love how this magazine covers many different topics, and often does so in a very realistic way. To me, magazines like Cosmo and Glamour really don't represent real life. Nor do they have pictures of real women in the magazine.
I like this magazine for inspirational stories about women who got into shape. Their health articles extend past the symptoms, and often have suggestions on prevention. Their articles on nutrition are good, and once again realistic. This magazine doesn't make you feel like you have to be a size 0, but rather small changes go make a difference.

This is an awesome mag!

Lots of fitness magazines are always getting off topic! This magazine stays totally on the topic of fitness. However, not only does it talk about fitness, but also health! The pages showing women who have succeeded in weight loss are really encouraging, and I also like all of the healthy tips on foods and exercises. Every time I see a very healthy person on the cover it inspires me! The magazine also has very good clothing pages too! A very good buy as one of my favorite fitness magazines!

This is the best magazine ever!

I have been a faithful subscriber for approximately 10 years. This is the magazine that impatiently wait for every month. It has beauty tips, interesting articles, fitness information, etc. I even gave my mother a gift subscription. It's the best.

My favorite

I just recently decided to subscribe to this mag. and that was only based on the low price. But it has really suprised me and I totally enjoy this magazine. It is definately my new favorite. Its got a lot of informative articles, unless other mags of its kind that don't have much reading in them.

very useful reading

I subscribed to SELF after years of reading GLAMOUR. Due to recent editorial changes, GLAMOUR had become a large collection of mostly useless (to me) articles for 16 year olds... SELF contains a lot of useful information on health, fitness, exercise video reviews on occasion, recipes, etc. Also, it has the information I liked in GLAMOUR about beauty, makeup trends, etc. It seems to address the best of many worlds - how to look good, feel good, be healthy, and enjoy life.
