Reviews For Rolling Stone Magazine

Magnazine

There are a lot of very interesting articles in this magnazine I havent really ever looked at a Rolling Stones Magnazine until recently. It is quite interesting.

I find I like it a lot more than I thought I would.

I only ordered it because I thought it was so pathetic that a year's subscription would cost a dollar. But I find that I, and my husband, really enjoy the mag. I'll probably stick with it.

Rolling Stone magazine

Not like it was 40 years ago when Ralph J Gleason and Hunter S Thompson were still around but still worth reading.

classic music and lifestyle magazine

This is a classic magazine and still worth subscribing to. Is it as good as it used to be? Probably not. Lots of changed in the last several years, not just the size, but it's still a great place to find out about new music you never would otherwise and get great interviews that blogs and other new media only dream of.

Quick & Interesting

As a first time Rolling Stone subscriber and someone who enjoys all genres of music but isn't obcessed about music, I found this a very accessible magazine. I gave it a 4 star instead of 5 because I'd like to see more up & coming faces on the cover rather than blockbusters.

rolling stone review

It's nice. I expected newer bands to be reviewed but it wasn't bad for the price.
It should of had a more eclectic selection of groups and took on a little more risk by not going for the mainstream, and somewhat pastense bands that it reviewed.

Still relevant, still credible

Yeah, RS covers more of the schlock artists than I'd like, but it's purpose is to cover the music industry -- and that includes Britney et. al. It's still a great magazine, and still a great resource. Plus, over the years it has developed into an important voice politically: Its coverage of national and international issues -- from financial meltdown to health care reform -- is among the best.

Politics and Music, my two favorite things!

I am only 25, so I guess I can't comment on RS now vs then, but this is the only magazine that I subscribe to. I think the political articles are awesome, although admittidly left in leaning. And really, it's not RS's fault that the music industry sucks now compared to back in their hayday. I like that they don't measure their success by how many hundreds of band names they can mention in a single article, like other music mags. I have to say though, I HATE the new format. The big dimensions was what made them special.

more than music

I got a subscription after not reading it for a few years. Was surprised to see that the size is a lot smaller now (and I'm not just talking thickness!). Also surprised that it has less to do with music than in previous years. Still a great magazine with great writers and photographs, but just doesn't have that edge that it used to. Times are changing, I guess.

I think it's worth it for the price. A pretty good look at pop culture in a "non-internet" way that I still appreciate. If you've loved the writing of Rolling Stone in the past, there will probably be some things in here that you will like. If you're looking for a "music magazine" though, you might want to go elsewhere. Unfortunately, I can't recommend where that would be though! :)

Great Magazine!

Rolling Stone magazine is great when you want to find out about the latest events in the music and even political world.
