Reviews For Family Fun Magazine

Fabulous Family Fun

This is an excellent magazine for families! Every issue is packed with fun ideas, easy crafts, and delicious recipes! This is with out a doubt one of my favorite magazines! The ideas are easy to use, and won't break your bank! I buy this magazine to find fun activities to share with my preschooler! There are ideas for children of all ages and many season-related activities. A few less ads and this would be a perfect magazine! I would highly recommend this magazine for all families with children from preschool age through preteens!

February 2000 Issue

The February 2000 issue of Family Fun was my first issue of a new subscription. I originally subscribed to this magazine because my daughter's school was having a fund raiser and I was looking for moderately priced magazines to order. I did not expect a lot from it, most magazines disappointed me.
I was delighted to find there were several craft projects that my daughter and I could make together. For example, we are making her Valentines to give out to her kindergarten class and teacher. The ones we chose were the "Loving Hands Valentine". They are simply charming. Many times with homemade craft items they will be too homey. These are simply adorable and classy. The colors featured with deep purple and red are very becoming. Most of all I like the doves on the front of the card that are actually the hands of your child. After drawing the hands, you reduce them on a photocopier and dot the eye, and you have a sweet lovebird.
There were several other craft items and games for children to play indoors during the winter days when they are bored. Most of these were simple but entertaining.
I did not think article "Five Dinners for Picky Eaters", was very effective. My picky eaters would not touch Cider Pork Chops with a teeny teeny bit of Mustard, or Chili Pie with Cornmeal Crust, but would love icing the cupcakes in the article 25 Best Boredom Busters.
I am looking forward to my next issue.

A Helpful and Entertaining Magazine

This magazine presents ideas for all budgets and creative talents [or lack thereof!!]
The price of the magazine [about one dollar an issue] is worth it for the recipes alone. Recipes are simple and have appeal for family and company. [Treat your friends like family and your family like company]!!
The only elitism evident is in the travel pieces...most are out of the price range of average American family..but it is fun to take the trips vicariously.
I have saved lots of time and money using this magazine as a reference for toy shopping [especially on line shopping] and for ideas for kids' school, church, and scouting projects.
Another excellent feature is the feedback from readers. Magazine is not afraid to print sometimes "dorky" family photos showing less than perfect projects attempted from past issues. I appreciate this editors' lack of taking themselves so seriously like some lite fare magazines do.

I Needed Ideas & This Magazine Had Tons!

I'm not generally one to spend money on magazine subscriptions, nor do I pick them up from the local grocery store, but somehow I got rigged into buying this magazine from a friend. Boy, am I glad I did!

This magazine has tons of information and stories that relate to everyday life. The craft ideas they have are very easy and most of the time very inexpensive. I have tried a few of them and they really are fun for me AND the kids.

I also enjoy reading the stories that the freelance writers submit. Most of the time I can find something in common with the writer. On the negative side I do get tired of finding advertisements on every other page for different things. Seems like lately it's been mostly for vehicles...I understand that advertising is a huge part of a magazine but I don't really ever read them so it seems more of a waste of space.

Family Fun also offers some great advice from other parents. I enjoy reading the editorials and pictures of other families that have taken the time to try some of the ideas suggested and succeeded.

I plan to continue reading this magazine for quite a while and when it comes time to renew my subscription it will be done with pleasure.

A Welcome Friend

I have been reading this magazine since the very first issue was published. At the time there was nothing else like it on the newstands, and even though there are some copycat magazines out there nowadays, Family Fun is by far still the best of them.

I enjoy the issues that come out around summer, Halloween and Christmas best of all. The summertime issue usually has an extensive article that describes all the newest roller coasters at theme parks around the country and rates them. I am not a big roller coaster fanatic, but for some reason I look forward to and enjoy that issue every year. They focus a lot on vacation spots for families in the summer issue, and while most of the vacations they feature are way beyond my budget, I still love to read about them, and they give me ideas for day or weekend trips that I can afford.

At Halloween, they always do an issue that has the coolest costumes you can make at home, along with Halloween recipes and crafts that kids can make as well. This is an issue you don't want to miss. Everyone can find an idea to use and that is what makes the magazine so appealing.

The Christmas issue has become a really big deal for the toy manufacturers, because this is the issue where they publish the results of their toy testing. They take the newest toy releases and take them around the country to day care centers etc and let kids actually test them out. The ones that the kids actually like the best get the highest ratings. Apparently, these ratings have come to have some clout and are taken very seriously by the toy industry. While I don't swear by these ratings, I do tend to refer back to this as a guideline.

And of course we can't forget about the Christmas crafts and recipes....tons of them and all fairly easy to make.

If you have a family with younger children, this is one magazine you will definitely enjoy. It is well worth the money.

Family Fun Magazine = Fun times

I am a huge fan of Family Fun Magazine. They have so many neat ideas for you to do that it is hard not to delve into it once it arrives in the mailbox.
I am a preschool teacher, so this magazine has helped me out tremendously. I have gotten so many neat ideas using this magazine and have been able to alter a few so that I can use them in my classroom.
I love that each magazine has a cooking idea for kids. Usually it is for a great recipe that is very easy to follow. I like the fact that they give simple step by step instructions. If the steps are clear to read, it makes that time spent in the kitchen that much more enjoyable.
I have gotten many neat Valentine's from past issues. I like to be creative instead of just buying mine at the store, so this has helped me out a lot.
I think it is neat that they also review places that are fun to travel to. While I can not take my preschoolers to these places, I enjoy reading about them and hope that maybe one day I can visit them with my family.

Great ideas for family fun....

This is the only magazine I subscribe too. With two kids, ages five and two, who has time to read anything other than Hop on Pop or Go Dog Go! Family Fun has all sorts of recipe's specifically with kids in mind. Each issue also has different craft ideas for every season and holiday. I have seen everything from Halloween costumes to making Valentine Cards. One year they had different ideas on making creative scarecrows. We made one that was standing on it's head. It worked so well that we decided to make a whole family of scarecrow's standing on their heads. I highly recommend this magazine for families everywhere.

Family Fun Magazine is Family Fun

I absolutely love to read Family Fun as it is seems to have been written specifically for me. The magazine regularly offers advice on topics ranging from trips, teaching values, games, crafts and recipes. The magazine offers step by step instructions and pictorials to guide you. My favorite part of the magazine are highlights from parents who have clever tricks and ideas which are shared in a viewer-voice type atmosphere. This is a must for any parent and will give multiple ideas on anything and everything! The magazine is clear concise and will aid even a childcare worker struggling with a need for ideas. I have used several ideas for my son's school parties and have been the hit of each of them. I make copies of favorite ideas and articles and place them in a binder for future reference and then donate the magazine to friends with children and my son's school. Most ideas are geared for children 5 to ten years of age however many can be adjusted to most age levels.

Family Fun Magazine

Fabulous magazine - lots of great craft ideas that utilize things you have around the house, not expensive stuff you have to go out and purchase special. It's a great bridge for those of us who have kids who are too old to have "Parents" or "Parenting" be relevant but still want ideas for doing fun things together. Be sure to check out the Halloween issue each year - there are a lot of ideas for inexpensive costumes that even non-sewers can make. There's also a special issue with unique ideas for birthday parties.

Great Ideas!

Family Fun magazine provides loads of information for families with young as well as school age children. The magazine is packed with craft ideas that can be modified for children in different for age levels. It is also a great resource for planning a family vacation! Lodging options are compared and prices are given so the consumer can make an educated choice. This magazine is really different from the standard parenting magazine. It is not for those who are looking for articles on "How to burp a baby" but for those looking for activities and ways to enjoy your children. Crayola Kids is another magazine that readers of Family Fun would enjoy!
