Reviews For Cricket Magazine

Best literary children's publication. period.

I chose this to replace Mamaw's annual National Geographic for Kids subscription. That magazine seemed to be mostly advertising with little bulk, and it was pieced together for a wide audience.

I love Cricket for my well read[...]. He usually plows through everything he reads, then discards it. BUT, with Cricket he keeps it and re-reads it. I also love how it's written at above his reading level, so he requires a dictionary at times.

Also, there are no advertisements. Every page is filled with wondrous stories and fabulous artwork. Great job!

Great Magazine . . . EXCEPT . . . .

When my daughters were little, we loved this magazine.

Then I noticed something that I did not like.

Most of the stories were about little boys, doing cool activities.

The girls were always passive. They were either the King's
daughter, or helping mommy. Yawn.

Ironically, most of the stories were written by women. They
had all kinds of excuses when I wrote them. Always in denial.

If you have a daughter, I still recommend the magazine.

But PLEASE get on their case about this!
