Learn More on Reptiles
December 9,2010
Bought as a gift for my son who loves this magazine. It helps him with ideas and suggestions for the reptiles he has today.
a must for the individual with an interest in herpetoculure
November 3,2010
If you have any interest in herpetoculture this magazine subscription really is a must have. You don't have to own reptiles to own reptiles to appreciate the content in this magazine. Also if you do own reptiles they help you become more involved in the reptile community and help further educate you on your hobby. Plus there is some savings in the magazine for cool reptile gear.
Reptile Magazine
August 2,2010
I ordered this magazine after purchasing my baby ball python. There is a lot of good information for people who have reptiles as pets. Unforturneatly it is not specific to anyone reptile. This magazine trys to cover a broad range of reptiles. So if you are looking to find constant info on just your style of reptile then a book or the internet is best for you. However, this magazine is loaded with adds on cool new products and also lists breeders of many different reptiles. My favorite happens to be that this magazine is chucked full of Reptile Convention listings. So if you want to be kept up to date on new species of many different reptiles or just brush up on an old but goody, then this is a good magazine to get. You may even find a new friend that will keep you interested.
Excellent reptile magazine

I've been reading this magazine since it came out back in 1995 (I believe) and it's still THE best resource for general information on a wide variety of reptiles, especially for those of us interested in keeping them as pets.
Keep up the good work!

Being a girl, I particularly love this publications for various reasons.
July 4,2009
This is a wonderful publication; probably the best on the market in this genre. I have been subscribing to this for years...well, about five or six, actually. I have yet to receive and read an issue that I did not learn something new. It keeps me up to date.
I have a particular problem when it comes to Reptiles...I am a girl. Now I have been collecting, raising, photographing and fooling with these creatures since I was a little girl. I was raised in a family quite involved with collecting, breeding and selling these creatures. I did not just fall out of a plump tree when it comes to this subject. But then being a girl presents a lot of problems. I go to many of the big shows and Reptile Meets around the country and a great number of the "guys" automatically start "talking down" to me the instant I have a question. It is either being talked down to, or what is even worse, it is being hit on. Now I agree that reptiles are sexy little beasties, hey some of them sort of turn me on working with them, but good grief! This causes problems as I am either not getting the in-depth information I am looking for or I am trying to defend my virtue and virginity (ha, ha - sorry, that is long, long gone).
This publication though has solved many of my problems. I have been able to make many contacts in the Reptile World via mail and email and have found that I get a much better response if I am a faceless and bodiless neuter. Go figure!
Anyway, that is a personal problem but I just wanted people to know that this publication is a great way of gleaning information and making contacts with out all the face to face hassles that go along with it. The photographs are wonderful (another point of interest for me) and the articles very professionally done. Even the articles that do not go into the depth I require are helpful as the tend to motivate me to do further research...always a good thing.

Great magazine, for beginners or more advanced herpers
January 8,2009
I've been a subscriber for years, first when I was a beginer through when I was breeding and selling at a local show, and now that I am back to just having a few special cold blooded critters around. I like the care information and it has wonderful photographs throughout. The articles are great too for people interested in more exotic species and herps than are available to the casual herper. The advertisements can also be helpful in finding the next breeder you are interested in aquiring animals from or equipment you can't get locally. Great publication!
An excellent magazine if you like herps...
January 6,2009
Whether you have any or not, this is a great source of information. I do not currently have any herps but I do work with them at the local zoo. I received my first issue and promptly read it cover-to-cover. I can hardly wait for the next issue.
Great magazine

I love this magazine. My only complaint is that I wish each issue were longer. I get to the end of the magazine and I just want more.
A BIG Hit with my 8 year old nephew!
August 27,2008
I just wanted to update and let you know that my nephew LOVES this subscription! He says there are 65 pages in each issue. I was a little surprised because the price was so reasonable, I would have been happy with just 20 pages, but 65, what a great thing!
The only game in town--and not a bad job
July 3,2008
Reptiles strives to achieve a balance between articles for children and beginners, articles for herpetologists and field photographers, and advanced keepers. Occasionally, it manages this. The truth is that Reptiles and The Vivarium magazines should never have been merged--Reptiles should have remained an invaluable resource for beginners to the hobby, with The Vivarium focusing on in-depth articles for advanced hobbyists.
But, they WERE merged.
There ARE no other paper reptile magazines in the US any longer. This is it. If you own reptiles and amphibians, get this magazine--it's a good way to read up on species you may not have researched before, to see what new products are coming onto the market, to track shows, and to generally be entertained by lots of pretty pictures. You can't beat the price for all of that--you'd have to buy a LOT of books to get all of that information and content.
It doesn't do the best job it could do, but it does do a fairly good job, which makes it worth subscribing to--even if you're an advanced keeper. There's no other source of herp-oriented bathroom reading material. :D
